Magical girls fight for justice! But not before they finish
their poses!
Fighters are starting to decrease and as Goku searches yet
again for Jiren three girls from Universe two calls out to the remaining
warriors. Brianne de Cateau and her friends Sanka Ku and Su Roas transform
Sailor moon style, though rather than pretty warriors they turn into…. nothing
as Seventeen blast them before they can do it. Goku and Toppo then lecture him
on in interrupting their transformation and they girls are allowed to continue.
Sanka and Su look like something from an actual magical girls show. While
Brianne looks like… a pink marsh mellow.
Brianne releases a magic pheromone that bewitches fighters;
however Universe Seven is hardly affected, even Roshi, thanks to his training
has resisted their charms. Vegeta challenges Brianne in his super sayian form,
but she holds her own. Indeed, Vegeta seems to show his weakness for gag characters.
In the meantime Roas is fighting Goku who seems to be having
no real problem with her until her ki balls start changing direction. Su and
Seventeen also fight. She uses cat like attacks, biting and scratching furthermore
her speed is incredible and forces Seventeen on the defensive…. until he lets
her slam into his barrier technique. But despite his attack another member of
Universe 2’s team; Vikal intercepts her before she can fall out of the ring.
Seventeen isn’t through yet. First he knocks out Vikal, and then goes for Su
again. He blasts Su out of the ring. This has left Brianne pissed.
Yes! This was the episode I wanted, a bit heavy on
exposition, but it had that over the top Toriyama style humor that so many
western fans hate but I love. Despite that It still was about the fighting, and
the fight between Seventeen and Su, while not very surprising was entertaining.
The only real downside was all the exposition which the
episode totally didn’t need, except many as padding. This has been a weakness in several episodes
this arc, but it really stood out here because the rest of the material was so
entertaining. The padding is a lazy way to get the episode to its run time, and
really has little business in a series like Dragon ball which should have the
budget for real content.
Still, I got most of what I wanted from this episode: a ridiculous
parody for magical girls in Dragon ball and for that I am grateful.
Next time Gohan goes against universe ten. Let’s hope they
do him justice after all this buildup.
