Review of Dragon Ball Super Ep. 94: Fast Forward Button Wanted

Goku explains his deal with Freeza. Bulma Kuririn and Vegeta are not happy but Whis hand waves it; saying Freeza is a small issue compared to the universe getting erased.

Meanwhile Quitela is feeding Sidra—the god of destruction of Universe Nine bad information: That Universe Seven is coming after them first, and that they should knock them out of the tournament before it can begin.

Back in Universe Seven we are reminded Trunks exists as he asks about the picture of Freeza on Universe seven’s planning white board. Bulma and Vegeta lie though their teeth that it’s about celebrating his sister’s birth and that Freeza has turned a new leaf. Goku then steps in-- telling Trunks about the island Seventeen protects. He convinces Trunks to get Goten and guard the island for a while. Goku asks Kuririn to escort the kids while he picks up Freeza.
Meanwhile Roshi is training with Yajirobi, using the same attack he used on Goku in the 21 budokai he quickly took the fat samurai out. After a heartfelt farewell to Korin Roshi sets out to leave only to forget he can’t fly.

Turning to Universe Nine Sidra and Roh decide that Freeza is too dangerous and to go through with the assassination plan.

At the same time a nervous Kurirn and eighteen arrive on Seventeen’s island. Kurirn is doing everything he can to break the tension—and failing. Meanwhile the poachers decide that it will be easy to raid the island with only kids watching it. With that out of the way Eighteen, Seventeen and Kuririn go back to capsule corp. Marron stays with the boys for some reason.

Finally Freeza arrives—and punches Goku. Goku punches him in return. But before Goku can teleport away with Freeza the assassins from Universe Nine appear. Goku tries talking to them but Freeza just starts killing.  Goku tells him to forget about the scrubs but Freeza feels like killing them as a warm up.

What can I say about this episode other than it was a whole lot of nothing? I really hate these episodes that seem to do nothing but fill in gaps that either didn’t need filled in or should have been filled in elsewhere. This is another episode were only about half the material was in any way necessary for moving the plot along. There were a few funny jokes and a few relevant plot points but not enough to make it worth my time. The only part I really liked were Roshi talking with Korin, Piccolo talking to Seventeen, and Freeza. The rest I could take or leave. At least we should get some more fighting next episode.
